“If you do what you love, you will never work a day in your life”. Is a favorite phrase for this owner and founder of Daughterly Companions. After serving many years as a business executive in the financial and client services arena with such companies as Vanguard and Delaware Management Company, Karen has truly used her skill set to build a successful boutique home care company that treats every client as if they are her own. She credits her mother-in-law Helen Stewart for the motivation of developing this company. Karen and her husband Tom were tasked with finding home care for Helen who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. After much due diligence, Karen and Tom were not happy with the quality of care for their loved one. They quickly hired and fired 3 agencies before deciding to create their own team to support Helen in her time of need. They learned through the process that the home care company that they wanted for their family did not exist. Learning from that experience fueled her to dream of doing Home Care differently and better. Karen is extremely proud of the company and of the people that brought Daughterly to life and the many clients and families that have benefited from this unique service. We don't hire anyone that we wouldn't place with our own loved ones and clients and families recognize that commitment immediately and have commented in our many 5* reviews! I love what I do and I know that it shows!
She was blessed to have her grandmother live with her loving family during her childhood. It was Nanny Joyce that taught this Karen the meaning of respect, appreciation, and the joy of the elderly. Although she had a long time career in entertainment and corporate marketing, an elder soul always found their way to her. After taking a career hiatus to raise her three children, the organic development of Daughterly Companions happened. It was the connection to Helen Stewart and the opportunity to care for her that lead to the birth of Daughterly Companions. Karen believes "Humility and divine intervention leads her company to do great things."
She is a trusted soul to say the least, who lives by an old saying, “Say what you mean and mean what you say.” She has over 30 years of corporate and tax accounting experience. Daughterly was blessed to obtain Chancey, having her become part of the "daughter network." She has perfected and simplified the billing system for our clients while handling all financial aspects of the company. She understands the intensity of caring for a loved one as she herself has lived through it.
She has spent over 15 years managing an institutional pharmacy servicing the long term care market. Her passion is developing staff who are focused individuals with core values and a strong work ethic.She brings her organizational skills to Daughterly while creating an environment for the caregivers to work to their greatest potential, resulting in supreme client service."Being true to yourself offers the opportunity to give to others,” is a favorite phrase that demonstrates Cathy's intentions are about others.
Began her career at Daughterly as a part time caregiver. Her organizational skills did not go unnoticed by “The Karens” and was soon asked to transition into the office. Joan is not only one of the voices that will greet you when calling the Daughterly headquarters during business hours, she is also the weeknight after hours, 24/7 on call voice. This system is available for our caregivers and clients in emergency situations. She leads with her heart, which is poured into every caregiver and client she speaks to. Joan’s calm demeanor aligns with a quote her mother used to say; “it's just an inconvenience, not a tragedy.”
Hers is the other cheerful voice greeting our callers at Daughterly's home office. Donna too, joined our company as a part time caregiver after raising her children. Her knowledge of caregiving coupled with her executive administration skill set was welcomed as the company grew. She believes in the Daughterly brand and its management style. This shines through when informing prospective clients at their first call. Donna is an expert with the in-take process, not to mention she is a sharp dresser, “No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up!” These are words she lives by.
She started out as an overnight caregiver while completing her college degree. While working for DAUGHTERLY, she realized her passion for the elderly could actually be her next career path following the words of her favorite quote, “If you can dream it, you can do it!" , Erika is the backbone to the strong administrative support staff. She launches all of our new client cases with the utmost of detail to assure quality is met at all levels of the care plan. Keeping accurate records and being the expert with the company’s software system makes her a valued asset to clients, caregivers and office personnel.
"Don’t gain the world to lose your soul, wisdom is better than silver and gold." Strong words for this young lady, who considers herself an "old soul” who’s naturally gifted in connecting with the elderly. While taking prerequisites for nursing school, Liz was one of the first caregivers hired to represent the company. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and worked in a corporate setting prior to joining D.C. After earning her Certified Nursing Assistant license, DAUGHTERLY had an opportunity for her to combine the two. She has since been involved in many aspects of the company’s administration. Including scheduling, client care services, and marketing.
She is an administrative expert in the client services division and is usually one of the first faces our prospective clients will meet. Her background includes working side by side with the creator of franchising for Visiting Angels. She has witnessed industry growth and appreciates the way Daughterly chooses to do home care. Diane’s attention to detail is superior and reassures our clients and their families they are in excellent hands. “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, forget what you did, but will never forget how you made them feel.” Words that reflect Diane herself, making our clients feel safe and cared for.
She knows first hand the high quality of care "the daughters" provide their clients, being that she was one of the first to hire the new company in town for her own mother (and that was over 5 years ago). With over thirty years of critical care and nursing administration Maureen was so impressed with the service, that she decided to join the young company. She interviews and trains all of the new hire caregivers and directs the Home Health division. Her philosophy is simply “ You are the only one that can limit what you can achieve."
"Be the reason that someone out there believes in the goodness of others,” are words that resonate with Betty. Although the quote would be used by others to describe Betty herself. With over 30 years of clinical, home care, and administrative nursing experience, she touches the lives of countless clients through our home health medical and non-medical divisions. Her temperament is patient and kind, evoking the highest quality of care to our clients and caregivers. She is a master trainer, offering continued education to our caregivers to grow with the clients’ in every stage of care.
"It is not how much you do, but how much love you put in the doing.” Words that hold true to this once upon a time orthopedic nurse turned home care professional. Trish is involved in most new client assessments and keeps a close watch on the ever changing needs of our clients. She coordinates and rolls out the training for specialty care cases when needed. She often wears two hats splitting her time between Daughterly Home Care (non-medical division) and Daughterly Home Health (medical division).
